Baroque Holiday Floral Design

Last Sunday, I attended an all-day Christmas floral workshop at René van Rems in Vista, CA. Here is the centerpiece I learned to make that featured noble fir, Terracotta roses, Black Mink Protea, Viburnum berries, Gum Tree leaves, gold-dipped seeded eucalyptus, orchids, imitation grapes and Alder tree catkins and cones.
René also showed us how to make a proper Christmas wreath from scratch using a wire wreath form and featuring noble fir, juniper, Cotoneaster berries, gold-dipped seeded Eucalyptus leaves, and two kinds of pine cones.

Even though Casey and I spend a lot of our time teaching other people how to make beautiful floral designs, we feel it's important to keep educating ourselves on floral design. René van Rems offers a unique European design perspective that you don't find very often in Southern California. I highly recommend taking a workshop from him or attending one of his demos if you can make the trip down to Vista.
