Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens

I traveled back east this summer to enjoy that great, hot and sticky weather that comes along in late July.  On the stickiest day we visited the Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens in Anacostia, Washington DC. An amazing plot of land that has been in existence for almost 100 years showcasing the most amazing collection of Lotus Blossoms and Water Lilies.  The original creators had a cut flower business, selling the lotus blossoms as bouquets.  They were the first floral operation to air freight flowers to other cities in the USA to cater to the "Carriage Trade" aka wealthy patrons. This operation is now protected by the National Park Service and absolutely glorious. Everything does peak about mid summer - so plan your trip accordingly.
